Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Olive oil is categorized as a vegetable oil and is extracted from the fruit of the Olea europaea L. tree. The oil is obtained through the process of pressing or crushing the olives, which releases their oils for collection. Among the different grades of olive oil, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) holds the highest rank according to the standards set by the International Olive Council (IOC). Thanks to its clean extraction process, EVOO contains the most antioxidants among all olive oils. It finds application in anti-inflammatory skin care products like lotions, soaps, and salves, effectively locking in moisture and providing excellent moisturization for dry skin. Additionally, EVOO is widely used in cooking and can be found in countless recipes. The main phenolic compounds found in EVOO are oleuropein, hydroxytyrosol, and tyrosol, which are abundant and healthy antioxidants. These compounds offer various beneficial properties, such as anti-cancer, anti-angiogenic, and anti-inflammatory effects.
