Bisabolol

« Back to Glossary Index

Bisabolol is a natural monocyclic sesquiterpene alcohol, appearing as a colorless and thick oil. It is commonly found in German chamomile, Myoporum Crassifolium from New Caledonia, and various cannabis strains. This compound emits a gentle fragrance reminiscent of a blend of apple, honey, and chamomile aromas. Cannabis strains with high bisabolol content often exhibit sweetly floral and fruity flavors and scents. The effects of bisabolol are recognized for their relaxing and soothing properties, making it ideal for lifting moods and alleviating anxiety. Additionally, it is known to decrease the production of inflammatory cytokines, acting similarly to an analgesic to relieve minor pains.

Bisabolol finds extensive use in skincare products due to its demonstrated skin healing effects, as well as its antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant properties, and more. Its boiling point is measured at 307.4℉ (153 ℃).
