Menthol topical is derived from mint oil extract, and it can also be synthesized artificially. When applied to the skin, menthol produces a cooling sensation that effectively relieves soreness, minor aches, pains, or bruises in muscles and joints. However, excessive application of menthol topical may lead to a temporary burning sensation, which typically subsides over time.
The cooling or warming effects of menthol topical function by blocking pain signals in the brain and reducing inflammation, providing much-needed relief for various discomforts.
