The Hypocrisy of the U.S. Government (Chapter 2,420)

The leaders of our country can no longer afford to waffle on this issue

Cannabinthusiast | The Hypocrisy of the U.S. Government (Chapter 2,420)

Strong words from Vice writer Manisha Krishnan, who spells out how hypocritical it is of the United States government to clutch its pearls over the nine-year prison sentence Russia gave Brittney Griner, when we routinely do exactly the same to thousands and thousands of Black Americans in this country. Simply put, the United States doesn’t have any moral high ground to stand on here.

Interestingly, she also points out that our government has tried to reframe this as a “diplomatic” issue, rather than a drug issue. But that is simply not the case, as the entire reason Griner is in the gulag is because she was in possession of less than a gram of cannabis oil. This would not be happening to her if not for the oil. I am furious at our government and President Biden over this hypocrisy and at their attempts to deflect from the real issue, so that they don’t have to address what’s happening to countless decent people in our own country. And you should be, too.

Of course, the U.S. government has been hypocritical about most all issues cannabis for decades now, but the times have most definitely changed, and this particular administration could make an enormous move. It doesn’t have to be like this.
