Genetic Variation
« Back to Glossary Index
Genetic variation is the diversity observed among organisms of the same species due to the expression or non-expression of specific genes. When combined with environmental variations, genetic diversity contributes to the wide range of phenotypes found within a species. In the case of cannabis, each strain possesses its unique genetic makeup, which plays a crucial role in determining the plant’s distinct characteristics and effects. The genetic variation among cannabis strains is responsible for differences in size, color, density, potency, aroma, taste, and even the yield obtained during harvest.
