Medical Marijuana review: Titty Sprinkles
I was gloriously baked, with a dose of aural amplification making the walk all the more surreal
On numerous occasions I have written about the reactions experienced when I combine a high with exterior heat. It is an almost unbeatable combination for realizing exactly how stoned I am. Stepping from the confines of my comfortable air-conditioned home into a blistering, sweltering sunlight, immediately my high is taken to some otherworldly level. It must be because home is normal – it is what I know. In that environment, one can be comfortably stoned in such a way that one may not realize the depth of the high. But introduce an immediate sensory change – one that by comparison can be classified as an overload – and the true high is revealed.
The afternoon I tried out Titty Sprinkles was a bit of an exercise in these extremes. Mrs. Fareye and I had decided that instead of going out to take in an expensive (by comparison) afternoon at the movies, we’d just settle in and partake in a Blu-ray that had just shown up: “Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy,” the first and only feature film outing from those crazy Canadian comedy troupe.
A satire of the pharmaceutical industry, “Brain Candy” has not only aged well, but its messages, such as they are, are as worth hearing today as they were in ’96. The movie was probably trying to warn us about something very real and awful that was on the precipice of happening at that time. Today we know all too well the damage that opioids in particular have wreaked, and while “Brain Candy” is centered on antidepressants, the parallels within the narrative remain. The ultimate, neatly tidy message of the film, and one that might perhaps resonate harder today than it did nearly 30 years ago, is that it’s actually OK to not be happy all of the time and some things are genuinely worthy of depression. This feels like a message the average stoner can get behind. As MMJ patients treating their mental illnesses know, there is no cure, but there is pain management.
My viewing of “Brain Candy” came immediately after DynaVaping a capful before settling in to watch the movie. The first thing I noticed about Titty Sprinkles is that it tasted and smelled an awful lot like butterscotch. Am I losing it? I don’t think so, because I experienced this numerous times, and I like butterscotch, so this was a welcome kick-off. (Info given to me claims it has a grape-like scent, so your mileage may vary.) I went on to be pleasantly, nicely lifted for the duration of the film. Hadn’t seen it in ages; laughed a whole lot and Mrs. Fareye, who’d never seen it, was equally amused. It was an entirely laid back “getting stoned and watching a movie” experience.
Afterwards, I DynaVaped a second capful of these Sprinkles before heading out on foot to the grocer a block away. Immediately upon setting foot outside the door into hundred-degree temperatures, the Titty Sprinkle high hit me in a way it hadn’t the previous two hours: I was gloriously baked, with a dose of aural amplification making the walk all the more surreal. I write about this sensation because it is so perfect and yet one cannot experience it for too long – sooner rather than later you have to come in out of the heat. Even a couple blocks journeyed back and forth felt like its own unique cannabis experience.
At first glance Titty Sprinkles seems a rather sexist and ridiculous name for a strain, but it turns out that it was possibly bred for a breast cancer patient and Good Day Farm donates a portion of all Titty Sprinkles sales to breast cancer research. So, while it may be uncomfortable to say or ask for, there’s a story behind it. It is an Indica dominant Hybrid with a modest THC content of 17.20%, and for the first time in ages we have a robust list of terpenes found in this strain: Caryophyllene, Limonene, Myrcene, Linalool, Humulene, Terpinolene and Pinene.
